Hi! I’m Jaívani, a finance and investing enthusiast and founder of HuliaAngélique.
My interest in finance began at age 14, thanks to my high school Accounting teacher, Ms Griffith. When choosing my six subjects to complete alongside the compulsory Math and English, I decided on Geography, French, Information Technology, Technical Drawing and Biology. I was about to select Physics (because my friends chose it), but my mom, with her wise counsel, cautioned me against it (I’m so glad she did) and called my soon-to-be Accounting teacher to summarise the syllabus…and like they say, “The rest is history.”
My introductory Accounting lesson revolved around careers in finance and that’s when I first heard about investing and Warren Buffett (my investing inspiration). Now here I am. It’s funny how the subject I was so close to not choosing is now what I’m most passionate about and dedicate most of my time to.
Thanks, Mommy and Ms. Griffith!
From ages 14 to 18, I learned how to read annual reports and perform financial statement analysis, how to value companies (still learning), and did some paper trading to familiarise myself with the whole investing process. I’ve been investing since age 18 and my investing philosophy is rooted in buying quality companies that trade below what they are intrinsically worth – Warren Buffett-style value investing. My long-term goal is to continue increasing my knowledge of finance and investing and share what I learn along the way, before opening my investment firm – HuliaAngélique.
When I’m not buried in a company’s annual report or a spreadsheet document you’ll find me running or at the gym. Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn and reach out if you want to discuss all things finance!
Let’s grow together!
